Dirty Dishwasher? Make Lemonade

I seem to constantly find innovative ideas on alternative uses for lemons. I think that everyone knows about cleaning your microwave with lemons. In case you are at a loss, just take a cup of water, slice up a lemon, place the water, 6 tablespoons baking soda and lemon in a microwave safe bowl, place that into the microwave, heat this in the microwave on high for 2 -3 minutes. Then you want to let the bowl sit inside the microwave for 5 minutes. The built on guck will start loosening up and them you simply wipe it all down. The steam takes care of the dirt and the lemon and baking soda take care of the order.

Now for your dishwasher. Real Simple has a “real simple” solution, when the world hands you a dirty dishwasher, make lemonade…or at least buy a packet of instant mix:

Original Purpose: Quenching your thirst.
Aha! Use: Cleaning lime deposits and iron stains inside the dishwasher. Pour a packet of lemonade Kool-Aid (the only flavor that works) into the detergent cup and run the dishwasher while empty.
Reward: The citric acid in the mix wipes out stains, so you don’t have to.
