CVS Fun!!

I've been shopping at CVS for 3 weeks now for nearly free. Lots of family and friends keep asking "How?". So today I've decided to blog about my trip to CVS.
This all started when my niece Rachael posted a blog of her own questioning CVS and the Extra Care Bucks (ECBs). I myself had been pondering this same concept. So I started researching. One of the comments posted on my niece's blog was from a CVS professional shopper. She used moneysavingmom.com to do all the 'leg work' of saving money. I love love love love this blog. This blog posts about different deals she finds. Not just CVS but MANY others too!! A few small deals I've found from her website were 1.) A free 8X10 from Walgreens 2.) 20 4X6 prints from WalGreens and 3.) 1 4X6 and 10 5X7's shipped to me for 1.58 from SnapFish. She posts several posts a day so sign up for her updates. It is a must have for anyone looking for a good deal. This site has a post that you need to read to help you understand how to shop at CVS with ECBs http://moneysavingmom.com/2008/01/cvs-101.html.

This process is unofficially called "rolling your CVS Bucks"

Today I made two transactions.

Transaction #1

Frosted Flakes and Raisin Bran Crunch 2 for $5 (receive 3 ECBs)
Gallon of Milk 2.97 (receive 3.00 ECBs)
2 ThermaCare single packs for 2.49 each (receive 2.49 ECBs X2)
Colgate Total for 2.99 (receive 2.00 ECBs)
Covergirl mascara for 5.99 (receive 4.00 ECBs)
2 packs of gum @ 1.49 each (not on sale and no ECBs bought for my daughter)
Total was 24.91

Minus Coupons
1.00 off mascara
1.50 off 2 Kellogs Cereal
.75 off colgate Total

Minus ECBs from last week
$16.99

Minus coupon from email
$4 off 20.00 purchase

Subtotal of .69 cents paid tax on Total of 24.91 paid 2.30 out of Pocket (OOP)

Transaction #2

CVS Green Tag .99 (receive .99 ECBs)(you scan this with every purchase and receive $1 after every 4 scans)
Colgate Pro Clinical Toothpaste 3.99 (receive 2.00 ECBs)
Total 4.98

Minus Coupons
1.00 off colgate Pro Clinical

Minus ECBs from previous transaction
4.00

subtotal -.02 (yes that reads negative .02 it is what my receipt actually says)
Paying tax on total amount of 4.98 paid .40 OOP

So I was OOP 2.70 and received 13.97 in ECBs to use next week.

Another trick is to scan your CVS card at the coupon center EVERY TIME you go into CVS. You will almost always get $1 off CVS paper product and $1.00 CVS skin care product. Last week they had CVS single rolls of Toliet paper on sale for 2/1.00. Normally they are about 1.00. You can always find something small for about a dollar to use these coupons on. I've bought travel pack of wet wipes for the car and toliet paper with my $1 off paper product and I've used the $1 off CVS skin care for hand santitizer, chap stick and lotion.

you can scan your card multiple times. Sometimes I've been able to scan it 3 times and others only once.

I hope you all enjoy! :)

This is SO exciting!!!! I am glad you are doing this...it makes it so much more fun for me!!!! These were amazingly great deals! In my post I mentioned the fact that I felt as if I was just buying myself a gift card. I am realizing that maybe I am putting out the first $15 or $20 to start my ECB's but it is like the $20 bucks that never ends! (When rolled over properly.) Finding good deals makes me smile! :)

Love you bunches! xoxo
